PWAS Meetings

The Prince William Art Society holds monthly meetings at the Tall Oaks Community Center, 12298 Cotton Mill Drive in Lake Ridge, Virginia on the fourth Monday of most months. We break for the summer in July and August, and for the winter in January.

Following the business portion of the meeting from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm, the membership enjoys a brief refreshment period, then hosts a presentation by an artist. Presentations range from seminar format to demonstrations, and include all mediums and styles of visual art, both two and three dimensional.

These programs are free and the public is warmly invited to attend.  Additional driving directions are available on our Contact page.

The PWAS President's Comments:

The year is in full swing and PWAS has been full of opportunities for its members.  We have already held three shows where members have sold art.  We participated in a month-long show in the town of Manassas, where members were juried in and able to present their best works to the public.  Our members have gotten outside for Plein Air painting.  We have partnered with the Woodbridge Women’s club as well as other groups in the area for shows.

Our club meetings have been well attended with great presentations by wonderful artists.  We have our first workshop of the season coming up in July where internationally known artist Marni Maree will offer her watercolor on canvas class.  This show quickly sold out.

As we near our summer break lets continue to be active and produce more paintings.

Hope to see you at our meetings and shows.

Opportunities in the news for Artists & the General Public:

Each month from February to June and September to November, the Prince William Art Society provides programs featuring Fine Artists sharing their skills in a variety of ways including lectures, demonstrations and exercises. Doors open at 7:30 pm for a business meeting, followed by light refreshments with the program beginning about 8:00 pm. The evening is free and open to the public, who are cordially invited to attend.

In addition to these regularly scheduled programs, we participate in local shows and often host our own art shows. Two examples are our participation in a county Arts Council show at the Hylton Center and our presentation of a members-only show at the Tall Oaks community center. We periodically organize workshops and field trips, and participate in fundraising efforts to offer scholarships to youth artists in our community. Members of the general public who would like to sample some of these activities or consider membership are invited to join us at one of our regularly scheduled open meetings on the fourth Monday of the eight months we meet.
