Jeff W. Holman
Originally I'm from Missouri and grew up in a military family. Eventually the family landed in Northern Virginia and I've been here ever since.
My interest in photography was pursued in community college, where I gained a good foundation in composition, line, light and contrast. Drawing on these basic skills I began to teach myself watercolors in 1999 and then acrylics in 2008. After a decade of trial and error, I began to enter works in juried shows with some success. I joined the Workhouse Artist's Guild in 2010 where my works were accepted in their juried show nearly every month (until WAG was disbanded in January, 2011). I joined PWAS in the spring of 2011 and have enjoyed participating in their shows.
Plein aire watercolor landscapes and lake scenes are what I started with, and they are still my favorite, but I've also been working on people and portraits for the past year. Being self-taught has had some advantages, but I look forward to taking a workshop someday.
